If you want to work as a door supervisor in England and Wales, you need to have a licence issued by the Security Industry Authority (SIA), which was set up by the UK Government to regulate the private security industry, including door supervision. Without a licence, you cannot legally work on the door of licensed premises.

To get an SIA licence you will need to satisfy three requirements:

Topics covered;

Endorsed by the SIA and regulated by Ofqual, the qualification is awarded to learners who successfully complete all four units listed above.
This qualification, which is worth 4 credits at Level 2, follows the SIA’s new specification and the unit structure reduces overlap between subject areas making it easier for learners to gain qualifications for additional sectors (CCTV, Security Guarding etc.) as they will only need to sit the additional units.

Course delivery

The course is delivered in a classroom environment. Completion of the course is subject to formal examinations for Units 1, 2 and 3. Unit 4 is assessed by the trainer. Successful candidates will achieve a qualification that is recognised by the SIA when you apply for a licence.
